Summer Fiesta - Merino / Linen Blend - 4ply / Light Fingering - Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill

The Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill welcomes Summer Fiesta, a NEW yarn to their collection of gorgeous 100% Australian Milled yarns. The yarn is a 4ply / light fingering weight yarn and contains 70% superfine Australian Merino and 30% Belgium Linen. It comes in the natural colourway as well as at this stage three other colours with more to be added. The coloured yarns have been commercially dyed at the Geelong Dyehouse. Summer Fiesta is a 2-strand construction yarn. 

The merino is non-mulesed, superfine and has travelled ~300km from farm to scourer to the Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill. It is gorgeously soft with amazing comfort and elasticity. It is a superfine, non super-washed yarn. It is therefore as environmentally friendly as a yarn can be.

The linen had to travel further because Australia does not grow linen for yarn processing. It has come from Belgium and it is one of the most sustainable natural fibres in the world.

The wool has been scoured to remove the lanolin, but it is not carbonised. It means that it is better for for you and the environment.

The Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill solar system supplies most of the electricity for their processing.
